Migration organisation provides improved online access
Yorkshire and Humber Regional Migration Partnership (YHRMP) were looking for a new website to promote the work of their organisation and give online access to migration information for the Yorkshire and Humberside region. They wanted a website that visitors found easy to use and accessible, that flagged news items effectively and was cost-effective to run.
The website does what was wanted - it has a simple, attractive design and meets WAI Priority AA web accessibility guidelines. People can find news items easily, through headline features on the home page.
Alli Spence, Website and Information Manager, says:
"We're particularly pleased with our searchable directory of organisations, which allows participating organisations to add and edit their entries online. We also like the flexibility and scope of the content management system - this allows us to create and edit online forms, and to alter the structure of the website very easily and quickly, at low cost.
It's been quite a long process, with ongoing discussions between ourselves and Leap Frog about what we wanted to achieve and how best to do that. Leap Frog gave us well-informed advice whenever we needed it. The web developer working with us has been really friendly and supportive, and always available on the end of the phone to talk things through!
We're really pleased with how the website looks, and we've had some good feedback. Thanks to everyone at Leap Frog for your work. We're looking forward to developing the website with you in the future."

New online service offers real choice in future medical care
'Respect our Wishes' has recently launched the National Register of Living Wills, offering real choice in future medical care. Run by experienced healthcare professionals, Respect Our Wishes is the first company in the UK to offer this service online.
A Living Will allows you to state clearly now your preferences over your future medical care. You can choose to have all possible treatments available or you may choose to say no to some treatments. It is important you think carefully about these choices.
Founder Mandy Thomlinson says, 'As NHS professionals, we know how important access to those choices can be in an emergency. Making a Living Will or Health Care Advance Directive is only the start to ensuring your wishes are respected when you are seriously ill. The documents have little value if they cannot be found when needed.'
Maria McDiarmid, fellow founder of Respect Our Wishes and a practicing GP, adds, 'You can now guarantee your health care choices are taken into account by doctors and your medical team. By registering your health documents on the National Register of Living Wills and carrying your membership card, your wishes cannot be ignored. Knowing this and having made your choices in advance will bring you peace of mind.'

'Women inspired by Wine’ launches UK's first wine club for women
An upmarket wine club for women was launched earlier this month with a brand new website. The club aims to give women the chance to discover more about wine through tasting events, dinners and wine tours in luxurious locations. In each case, the events will be guided by women sommeliers, winemakers and Masters of Wine.
The theme for the first event is Champagne and Sparkling Wine led by Maggie McNie, Master of Wine, author and expert on champagne. This will take place at the Hotel du Vin in Tunbridge Wells on the 27th January. Further regular events will be held, including a Wine and Chocolate Tasting in February and a summer launch in London.
Managing Director Ruth Trigg, who founded the club in 2008, says, ‘The world of wine is so diverse now that it can be hard to know what to look for. Through our events, we hope to demystify some of it as well as give women access to fabulous wines through our online shop, including boutique ones that are not widely available in the UK. Our aim is also that our members have a thoroughly enjoyable time!’
Executive Editor Sandra Clement, adds, ‘Food matching is an important aspect of our events. Members will be able to get lots of ideas through pairings at our wine-tasting dinners for smaller groups, the matchings we present at our themed events - and also through our website.
'We're also looking forward to organising tours to some of the vineyards where we source our wines. Staying in super places, members will be able to meet the winemakers and try the delicious local food to match the wonderful wines.’
